Who Requires ISN
Industries That Require ISNetworld Compliance
These sectors use ISN to prequalify contractors before site access. If your facility runs on ISNetworld, we're already in the system.
Oil & Gas Production
Upstream operators, oilfield service companies, and production facilities in the LA Basin and Orange County require ISN-registered electricians for wellhead, pump jack, and production electrical work.
Petroleum Refineries
Refineries along the south LA harbor corridor — Wilmington, Carson, Long Beach — mandate ISN compliance and Class I Div 1/2 capability for all electrical contractors on site.
Natural Gas Utilities
Sempra Energy and SoCalGas require ISN registration for contract electrical work at compressor stations, metering facilities, and gas processing infrastructure.
Chemical & Petrochemical Plants
Chemical processing facilities use ISN to verify contractor safety records, insurance, and OSHA compliance before issuing work orders for electrical maintenance and projects.
Pipeline & Midstream Operations
Pipeline operators and midstream companies require ISN-compliant electricians for compressor station electrical, metering controls, and SCADA system work.
Power Generation & Utilities
Power generation facilities and utility companies use ISN contractor prequalification for plant electrical maintenance, switchgear, and controls work requiring safety-verified crews.

How ISNetworld Works
What Is ISNetworld & Why Does Your Facility Use It?
ISNetworld (ISN) is the leading contractor prequalification and compliance platform used by oil & gas companies, refineries, utilities, and heavy industrial facilities to vet contractors before allowing them on-site. If your procurement or EHS team searches for an ISNetworld registered electrician or ISN approved contractor in Los Angeles — Direct Source is already in the system.
ISN collects and verifies safety programs, insurance certificates, OSHA 300 logs, training records, and compliance documentation. Each hiring company (owner group) maintains its own scorecard with safety criteria specific to their facility. Grades are per owner group — a Sempra scorecard differs from a refinery's or chemical plant's.
Direct Source maintains current documentation in ISN across all required categories. When your procurement team needs to qualify us under a new owner group, we can move quickly — the groundwork is already done.
What We Keep Current in ISN
- Safety program documentation
- Certificates of insurance (COI)
- OSHA 300 injury and illness logs
- Employee training records
- NFPA 70E arc flash procedures
- Company safety statistics (EMR)
