What We Do
Refinery Turnaround Contractor
Three disciplines under one contractor for your next turnaround.
Turnaround Electrical
Motor disconnect and reconnection, MCC maintenance and testing, bus duct inspection, cable tray work, explosion-proof enclosure inspection, switchgear maintenance, and all electrical work required in classified and unclassified areas.
NFPA 70E compliant procedures on every electrical task. Energized work permits managed.
PLC & DCS Controls Work
I/O card replacement, loop checkout, controller battery replacement, DCS module maintenance, PLC rack inspection, SCADA panel work, and pre-startup controls testing for unit restart.
Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell DCS, Emerson DeltaV, and other major platforms.
Instrumentation
Transmitter calibration, control valve electrical, thermocouple and RTD replacement, pressure and flow instrument loop testing, and IS circuit verification for process instrumentation during turnaround.
Full calibration records provided for your as-found/as-left documentation requirements.
Mechanical Maintenance
Pump and compressor mechanical maintenance, alignment, coupling inspection and replacement, mechanical seal inspection, heat exchanger support, and rotating equipment inspection during turnaround windows.
Documented to your tolerance requirements. We work alongside your inspection team.
Pre-Turnaround Scoping
Walk down before the turnaround window to scope electrical, controls, and mechanical work. Identify deferred items, develop a work pack, and price the scope before the unit goes down.
Pre-turnaround scoping reduces surprises and improves execution schedule accuracy.
Post-Turnaround Startup Support
Electrical and controls support during unit startup following the turnaround — loop checkout, bump tests, starter verification, and troubleshooting as the unit is brought back online.
We stay through startup, not just through mechanical completion.
Why Direct Source
One Contractor for Three Turnaround Disciplines
Less coordination, faster execution
Managing separate electrical, controls, and mechanical contractors during a turnaround multiplies coordination overhead. One contractor with all three disciplines reduces communication gaps and scheduling conflicts.
ISNetworld prequalified
Already approved on ISNetworld for Chevron, Phillips 66, Valero, and other SoCal operators. No qualification lead time before we can mobilize for your turnaround.
Class I Division 1 for the whole unit
Classified areas throughout your refinery require certified hazardous location work. Our electricians are Class I Division 1 certified — we don't need a separate subcontractor for the Ex work.
Based in Santa Fe Springs
Central to the SoCal refinery corridor. Short drive to Carson, Wilmington, El Segundo, Torrance, and Long Beach. Fast mobilization when you need it.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What turnaround disciplines does Direct Source cover?
Electrical, PLC/DCS/SCADA controls, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance — all under one contractor. We can scope and execute across all four disciplines for a refinery turnaround, or supplement your existing turnaround contractor in specific areas.
How far in advance should we engage you for a turnaround?
Ideally 2–3 months before the turnaround window opens — enough time to walk down the scope, develop a work pack, and price the job accurately. That said, we've mobilized on shorter notice for facilities with immediate needs. Call us as early as possible at (562) 396-9924.
Are you ISNetworld approved for the SoCal refineries?
Yes. We're prequalified on ISNetworld, which is required by Chevron, Phillips 66, Valero, and most major refinery operators for contractor entry. You can verify our status directly on ISNetworld. No approval lead time before we can enter your facility.
Can you handle classified area electrical work inside the unit?
Yes. Our electricians are Class I Division 1 certified. We handle explosion-proof conduit work, IS circuit work, and all classified area electrical tasks during turnaround without requiring a separate subcontractor for the hazardous location scope.
Do you offer pre-turnaround scoping?
Yes. We walk down the electrical, controls, and mechanical scope before your turnaround window opens, identify deferred maintenance items, and develop a work pack with pricing. Pre-scoping significantly reduces surprises during execution and improves schedule accuracy.
