What We Do
Refinery PLC & SCADA Automation Contractor
Full PLC, DCS, and SCADA capability for refinery and oil & gas applications.
PLC Maintenance & Programming
Routine PLC maintenance, program backup and verification, module replacement, I/O testing, and program modifications with documentation for refinery control systems.
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Siemens S7, GE Fanuc, Modicon, and others.
DCS Maintenance
Controller module maintenance and replacement, I/O card inspection and replacement, communications maintenance, and DCS database backup for Honeywell, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, and other refinery DCS platforms.
We work inside your DCS, not just at the field device level.
SCADA Panel Work
SCADA panel maintenance, HMI maintenance and updates, remote I/O system maintenance, communications troubleshooting, and SCADA network support for refinery and upstream production operations.
We document every change we make to your SCADA system.
Instrumentation Wiring
Field transmitter wiring, control valve wiring, thermocouple and RTD installation, and all instrument loop wiring in classified and unclassified areas of refinery process units.
Correct shielding, IS circuit segregation, and loop documentation on every install.
Loop Checkout & Commissioning
Pre-startup loop checkout, control valve stroke testing, transmitter zero and span verification, and PLC/DCS logic verification for unit startup following turnarounds or modifications.
Systematic loop-by-loop documentation. As-found and as-left for every loop.
Emergency Controls Troubleshooting
Unplanned PLC, DCS, or SCADA failures in California refineries and oil & gas facilities get same-day emergency response. We diagnose and resolve controls failures that impact production.
24/7 availability. Direct line to a controls technician.
Why Direct Source
Why Your California Refinery Needs a Specialist Controls Contractor
Refinery controls are safety-critical
A PLC or DCS failure in a refinery process unit can trigger an emergency shutdown or a safety system response. The controls contractor working in your system needs to understand the process, the safety logic, and the change management requirements — not just how to write ladder logic.
ISNetworld prequalified for California operators
Already approved on ISNetworld for Chevron, Phillips 66, Valero, and other California refinery operators. No lead time to get our controls team into your facility.
Classified area experience
Control system field wiring in refinery environments goes through classified areas. Our controls technicians work alongside our Class I Division 1 certified electricians — the wiring gets done correctly.
Documentation every time
Every PLC modification, DCS change, and SCADA update we make is documented. Your MOC process gets proper as-built records for every scope of work we complete.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What PLC platforms do you work on for California refineries?
We work on Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC 500, PLC-5), Siemens (S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, S7-1500), GE Fanuc (90-30, 90-70, RX3i), Modicon (Quantum, Premium, M340), and other platforms commonly found in California refinery environments. We also work on legacy systems that are no longer supported by the manufacturer.
Can you work on Honeywell TDC/TPS and Emerson DeltaV DCS systems?
Yes. We perform maintenance on Honeywell TDC 2000, TDC 3000, TPS, and Experion systems, as well as Emerson DeltaV and Fisher Provox. We work on the controller hardware, I/O subsystems, and field wiring — and can coordinate with the DCS vendor on software changes that require vendor involvement.
Do you provide documentation for PLC program changes at refinery sites?
Yes — and we treat this as a requirement, not an option. Every program change we make at a refinery site is documented with a description of the change, before and after program backup, and whatever format your MOC process requires. Clean documentation is part of what you're paying for.
What is your emergency response capability for refinery controls failures?
24/7. Our shop is in Santa Fe Springs, central to the SoCal refinery corridor. For emergency PLC, DCS, or SCADA failures that impact production or safety systems, call (562) 396-9924 — you'll reach a controls technician directly, not a dispatcher or call center.
Are you prequalified to work inside Southern California refineries?
Yes. Direct Source is ISNetworld prequalified, which is the standard contractor qualification system for Chevron, Phillips 66, Valero, and most major SoCal refinery operators. We're already in the system — no qualification lead time before we can mobilize to your site.
